The Lord McNicol of West Kilbride
Lord Iain McNicol of West Kilbride (born August 1969) is a British Labour politician and trade unionist. He is a Labour member of the House of Lords (the UKs second chamber) having being introduced in July 2018. He is a life Baron. Iain served as the General Secretary of the Labour Party from 2011-18, moving from the position as National Political Officer of the GMB Union. He has a long history of organising in both the Labour and trade union movement. As Labour’s GS he was legally and operationally responsible for the most important elections in the U.K. over the past decade. Iain grew up on in West coast of Scotland, he began his involvement in political organising as President of the Student Union at Dundee Institute of Technology in 1991. He then moved to the Labour Party, first in an elected role as National Campaigns and Membership Officer for Labour Students. Then as an organiser and agent in West London from 1994 through to Labour’s historic 1997 General Election. Following the Labour Party’s electoral victory in 1997 Iain moved to work for the GMB Union. On 19 July 2011, Labour’s National Executive Committee selected him to become the Party’s General Secretary. Iain is married and has a son and daughter and the family have lived in South London for over 25 years. He holds a black-belt in karate, and plays the bagpipes.

Dan Grandage is Head of Sustainable Investing at abrdn. Dan supports abrdn’s global investment vector to protect and enhance investment performance through integrating ESG and sustainability in all elements of the investment process via the creation and oversight of standards and market leading frameworks. Dan represents abrdn on the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) Standards Committee, plus a number of Investment Association sustainable finance working groups. Dan is also a board member of the UK Better Building Partnership. Dan joined abrdn in 2013 from WSP Group where he had responsibility for the Sustainable Real Estate team delivering practical sustainability solutions for investors. Prior to that, Dan worked for RPS Consultants with a focus on the environmental management of corporate mergers and acquisitions. Dan graduated with a BSc in Environmental Geology from Sheffield University, and holds an MSc from Manchester University in Urban Geoscience.

He has also worked as a Country CIO and senior portfolio manager for Allianz Global Investors and Allianz Group. Arun has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, US, and a Masters in International Economics and Management from SDA Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. He is a CFA Charterholder and a CAIA Charterholder. Arun is the Vice-Chair of CFA UK's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and an ambassador and active contributor with both the Diversity Project and Reboot.

David Mapplebeck

David Mapplebeck is responsible for overseeing EMEA regional governance, strategy and reporting at Northern Trust and oversees the day-to-day operation of the UK SMCR and other accountability regimes as well as UK Outsourcing requirements. David represents Northern Trust on several industry groups, including the UK Finance Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking Board, and is Co-Chair of the TISA Governance, Conduct and Culture Committee. David joined Northern Trust in January 2017 from State Street Bank & Trust Company. With 30 years’ experience in the legal and financial services industries, David has held senior management roles covering brokerage, asset management, family offices and custody banking businesses both in the UK and the Middle East and also worked for the UK Financial Conduct Authority, where he supervised multiple custody banks and asset management companies. David holds a BA Hons in Law degree from Durham University and qualified as a solicitor in 1994.

Therese Niklasson is Global Head of Sustainable Investment at Newton Investment Management, joining in 2022, where she is responsible for the strategic vision and delivery of sustainability across the firm’s wider investment platform. This includes working with the investment teams to ensure that ESG matters are fully integrated into the fundamental investment philosophy, as well as continuous innovation around sustainability solutions. Therese started her career as an ESG Analyst to then joining Threadneedle Asset Management as Head of Governance and Responsible Investment in 2007. Wendy joined FNZ in January 2022 as our first Global Head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Wellbeing. She has over 20 years’ experience in diversity, equity and inclusion having started with IBM, building out their D&I strategy for EMEA, Canada and Japan and then moving to Barclays, where she partnered with the United Nations on their HeForShe campaign and developed the bank’s approach to dynamic working which enabled all colleagues to work in flexible ways irrespective of role. More recently at BlackRock, Wendy was instrumental in developing their approach to socio-economic diversity and diversity data collection.
Prior to focusing on D&I, Wendy began her career in the insurance industry in client facing business and technology roles. She is currently Chairwoman of FACET, a social enterprise based in Cambridgeshire which supports adults with learning disabilities and complex needs lead more independent lives.

Hannah has pensions, investments and public/administrative law expertise regarding risk, governance and litigation. Between 2018 and 2022 she led the FCA's intervention in a series of SIPPs litigation cases (both civil and JR). She has extensive experience across retail financial services, having worked on and led some key recent FCA policy and supervisory initiatives, including in relation to SIPPs, DB pension transfers, PRIIPs, ESG and Funeral Plans.

Jeffrey leads the Technical Policy team, helping firms where new regulations are being introduced or proposed. He has spent 35 years in the funds industry, including 15 years at M&G, where he was a director and member of the Executive Committee. He held a number of operational roles including setting up M&G’s call centre, launching closed and open ended funds, and public affairs spokesman with responsibility for non-compliance relationships with regulators, HMRC and Government. Having read History at Cambridge, Jeffrey qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC). He then spent seven years in banking including posts as chief accountant of two merchant banks (HongKongBank and Samuel Montagu). He is currently also non executive chair of the Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Finance.
