PIMA Launches Major Expansion in Training

October 7, 2004

The PEP and ISA Managers Association (PIMA) has unveiled a major expansion in its training and support launching an extensive range of courses, aimed at providing Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) competency standards.

The move comes as part of PIMA’s increasing focus on training and support services for the industry. Carol Knight, PIMA’s Head of Member Services said:

‘With recent changes in the FSA Training & Competence requirements together with the fact that the Securities Institute no longer offers open courses for their IAQ modules, we realised that there was a gap to be filled and are positioning PIMA as an industry leader in investment education.’

Courses have been designed in close collaboration with experts across the financial services industry with special and close coordination with the examination body – the Securities Institute. Tutors will provide classroom-based training courses, mock exams and e-mail support giving attendees full and comprehensive knowledge of the modules, leading up to the qualification exam.

Courses offered include:

Introduction to Securities & Investment (2 days, plus 1 day revision)

FSA Regulatory Environment (2 days, plus 1 day revision)

ISA & PEP Administration (2 days, plus 1 day revision)

OEIC Administration (3 days, includes revision)

Unit Trust Administration (3 days, includes revision)
PIMA also recognises that many employers will have staff who need a more general introduction to these topics. New one-day training courses are now available to meet this need together with the addition of a new Child Trust Fund Administration module.

PIMA Director General Tony Vine-Lott said,

‘Our experience has indicated that there is a very keen interest in the financial services community for high quality training courses. At PIMA, we have responded by offering tailored training and a new course for the Child Trust Fund.’

Courses have been scheduled between now and September 2005. Anyone interested may find more information and register at www.pima.co.uk/training.htm or by calling Carol Knight at PIMA on 01642 207209.
