The Investing and Saving Alliance (TISA), the cross-industry financial services membership body, today announced the appointment of Lord Iain McNicol as an advisor to its board, with immediate effect.

Lord Iain McNicol of West Kilbride is a member of the House of Lords, trade unionist and Labour life peer who served as the General Secretary of the Labour Party from 2011 to 2018. He brings significant organisational, political and legal experience to the TISA board and will advise TISA on cross-party policy initiatives to improve the financial wellbeing of UK consumers. Lord McNicol joins fellow life peer Lord Ed Vaizey of Didcot, Conservative former minister, and Member of Parliament, who also serves as board advisor.

Lord Iain McNicol of West Kilbride, said: “As an advocate of financial inclusion and financial literacy, I’m delighted to be appointed to the Board of TISA.  TISA’s strong commitment to engaging with major consumer issues and championing best practice across the financial services industry means they have a pivotal role to play in shaping future strategy.”

Tony Stenning, Chairman of TISA, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Lord McNicol as an advisor to our board. He will further strengthen our existing board members and advisors, bringing expertise from both politics and the broader financial services sector.

“Our talented board members and advisors will be integral in the months ahead, as we continue to work with Government, Regulators and TISA members in a combined effort to support consumers and the UK financial services industry. Collaboration across political benches is vital if we are to achieve this aim. We therefore welcome Lord McNicol to TISA and look forward to working with him in the coming months and years.”
