TISA to hold free P2P seminar

April 11, 2017

TISA, the investments and savings membership organisation, is holding a free to attend seminar for financial advisers in London on May 3rd on the suitability of peer-to-peer lending as an investment vehicle.

Leading industry figures will address the key questions that advisers face when deciding whether they should consider peer-to-peer and debt-based crowdfunding for their clients, assessing the benefits for clients and determining the potential risks.

Jeffrey Mushens, Technical Director at TISA said:

“The world of peer to peer lending and debt-based crowdfunding has evolved noticeably over the last few years and technology driven developments have led to this area becoming increasingly attractive to a wider investment audience. But while for many advisers this represents an exciting and revolutionary investment opportunity, others are more circumspect. Our aim with this seminar is to increase understanding to enable advisers to make informed decisions on peer-to-peer lending and the role of the Innovative Finance ISA.”

Speakers at the seminar include:

• Julia Groves, Partner, Head of Crowdfunding, Downing – ‘What is the difference between P2P and debt-based crowdfunding?’
• Ceri Williams, Investment Operations, RateSetter – ‘Dispelling the myths around marketplace lending’
• Will Watling, Principal Consultant, Altus Ltd – ‘Challenges to distributing P2P via advisers’
• Monica Gogna, Partner, Ropes & Gray LLP – ‘Legal and Regulatory Challenges for P2P’
• Jake Wombwell-Povey, CEO, Goji – ‘IF ISA’s – the first year’
• Richard Wazacz, CEO, Octopus Choice ‘P2P and Advisers’
