BAIDU INC SPON ADS EACH REP 8 ORD SHS – US0567521085

May 21, 2024

When looking at ADRs (or other depository type interests/receipts), the listing or trading of the actual ADR is irrelevant. All that matters is the qualifying status of the underlying shares. If the underlying shares are ISA qualifying (because they are listed on a recognised stock exchange or admitted to trading on a recognised stock exchange in the EEA, including the UK), then the ADR automatically qualifies (regardless of its listing status). This is an American Depository Receipt listed on the NASDAQ.

The ordinary shares in Baidu don’t appear to have an individual listing meaning that the shares themselves are not ISA qualifying. See link below from company website FAQ.  This then means that any depository interests representing the shares (ADRs) are also not ISA qualifying.
