On Tuesday 16th June, we were delighted to officially launch the National Coalition of Workplace Savings, kindly hosted at BlackRock’s head office in the City of London.
The initiative, established through the Governmentâs financial inclusion strategy, brings together organisations from a range of sectors and launched with 21 signatories that represent over 400,000 employees across retail, hospitality, transport, facilities management, the public sector and charities. The Coalition aims to increase access to workplace savings schemes and encourage more people to build a regular savings habit.
With many thanks to Her Majesty Queen MĂĄxima of the Netherlands, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA), Rachel Blake MP, Economic Secretary to HM Treasury, and Sarah Pritchard, Deputy Chief Executive of the Financial Conduct Authority, for delivering the keynote sessions and for their support.
Rachel Blake, Economic Secretary to the Treasury said:
âEveryone should have the opportunity to build financial resilience, but we know that when household budgets are stretched, saving can be difficult.
The Governmentâs Financial Inclusion Strategy creates more opportunities for people to save through workplace savings schemes. Working with employers across sectors, this Coalition will help make workplace savings schemes easier to access and support more working people to build regular savings habits and a financial safety net. I strongly encourage employers to get behind this scheme today.â
