Altmann and Cazalet to speak at Retirement Savings Challenge conference

October 7, 2008

Pensions champion Dr Ros Altmann is to open TISA’s Retirement Savings Challenge conference on Wednesday 26 November with a keynote address looking at UK pensions in the 21st Century, whilst Ned Cazalet will examine the economics of pension saving.

TISA – the premier trade association in the UK retail savings and investments industry – is holding this new event to debate whether the planned pension reforms are ‘fit for purpose’.

Speakers at the event also include:

• Nigel Waterson MP, Shadow Pensions Minister

• Adrian Boulding , L&G – The future for Retirement Saving

• Rachel Vahey , Head of pensions Development, AEGON – Personal Accounts – A Personal View

John Lawson, Standard Life and Chair of TISA’s Retirement Advisory Council says: “I am delighted that TISA has managed to attract such a fantastic group of speakers for this new event. The savings industry is challenged with providing tax efficient vehicles that meet modern needs. Most importantly, we must find ways to encourage people to take personal responsibility for their own retirement.

“Anyone with an interest in pensions policy cannot afford to miss this opportunity to hear the views of the key players in this debate.”

The conference is designed for all those involved in strategy, policy, decision making, marketing, distribution, compliance and pensions operations. It will be held on Wednesday 26 November at HQS Wellington commencing at 12.00 and concluding at 16.35.

Uniquely, TISA is able to articulate the opinions of the whole savings and investments marketplace through its membership which comprises over 120 member firms involved in the supply or distribution of products to the sector and its consumer interest. TISA’s remit extends across the broad spectrum of government sponsored savings and investment vehicles including:

• Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs)

• Child Trust Funds (CTFs)

• Saving Gateway

HM Government uses TISA’s market knowledge and ability to represent the views of both the savings and investments industry and consumers to help it to deliver its policy in this area.
