ABCAM ADR – US0003802040
Looking at the details of this corporate action (link below), it appears that shareholders had the option of depositing their ordinary shares in exchange for the receipt of the ADSs, which they could have done either before the delisting date (14 December) or after the delisting or, alternatively, they could have opted to retain the ordinary shares.
The ADS line will not be ISA qualifying assuming that the ordinary shares will not be listed/traded on any other recognised stock exchange (which the information states that they won’t). We have checked ADSs with HMRC in the past and their stance is that an ADS is a type of depository interest representing underlying shares meaning that, for ISA purposes, the ADS will only qualify for an ISA if the underlying shares are ISA qualifying in their own right.
The key point is that neither the ADSs (for those shareholders that opted to receive these) or the ordinary shares (for those shareholders that opted to retain them) will be ISA qualifying.
