Exchange traded commodities (ETCs) are a type of debt security and fall therefore under the category of ‘qualifying securities’ for ISA qualification purposes. To qualify for ISA inclusion, the usual rules are that either the security or the shares in the issuing company need to be listed on a recognised stock exchange or admitted to trading on a recognised stock exchange in the European Economic Area (EEA) including the UK.
In this case, the ETC is traded on the on Euronext Paris/ Borsa Italiana (both HMRC Recognised Stock Exchanges) and will qualify for ISA inclusion (see links below).
I think the vast majority of ETCs that we see qualifying for ISA inclusion are themselves either listed on recognised stock exchange or admitted to trading on a recognised stock exchange in the European Economic Area (EEA) including the UK.
