PIMA HOPES DE-POLARISATION WILL ENCOURAGE GOVERNMENT TO REVIEW MAXI/MINI RULES

January 2, 2003

The scrapping of the polarisation regime should encourage the Treasury to review the current mini and maxi ISA rules which continue to cause consumer confusion.

PIMA believes de-polarisation might create the opportunity for improved access to quality advice and enable more product innovation.

Tony Vine-Lott, director-general of PIMA, said:

‘The key for us is that it should encourage the Government to review the current structure of ISAs. This might mean amalgamating mini and maxis thus significantly reducing the complexity and confusion for consumers. It might also mean a reduction in both sales and administration costs for providers as well.’
