PIMA WILL TAKE ACTIVE ROLE IN NEW CHILD TRUST FUND CONSULTATION

March 16, 2005

The PEP and ISA Managers Association (PIMA) welcomes the Chancellor’s announcement of further consultation on Government contributions to Child Trust Funds at secondary school age.

PIMA, which has been a leading player in the wider Child Trust Fund policy debate, is wholly supportive of further Government contributions at the secondary school age and will continue to engage the Government on this issue.

Tony Vine Lott, Director-General of PIMA, said:

[i]‘The Government has underscored its commitment to the Child Trust Fund and its inherent social benefits by signalling that it is willing to consider making additional contributions as children grow older. This will encourage many families to carefully consider the future of their children and the financial needs that come with maturity.’[/b]
