TISA congratulates Chancellor on his recognition of need to improve savers lot

April 22, 2009

TISA – Tax Incentivised Savings Association – has applauded the announcement by the Chancellor that Individual Savings Account limits are to be increased and that Child Trust Fund payments are to be introduced for children with disabilities.

Tony Vine-Lott, TISA Director General says:

“Raising the ISA limit to £10,200 sends out exactly the right signal and should encourage more saving. Crucially it’ll provide increased flexibility for those who want to use ISAs to save towards retirement. I’m particularly pleased that our two points that the allowance should be divisible by 12 so as to simplify regular monthly payments and that half of the ISA can be in cash have been heeded.

“CTFs are also a savings success story and the decision to introduce additional annual payments of £100 for children with disabilities and £200 for those with severe disabilities should help to boost their financial nest egg for when they reach 18.”
