TISA’s Financial Education Council launches new Toolkit to support teachers in delivering financial education at primary and secondary schools
Today, on National Financial Awareness Day, the Investing and Saving Alliance’s (TISA) Financial Education Council (FEC) has launched a free Financial Education Toolkit for teachers to help them deliver financial education.
This year, the Money and Pension Service’s financial education provision mapping exercise found that teachers were struggling to identify quality financial education resources.
The Financial Education Toolkit signposts free, high-quality resources to support teachers in delivering effective financial education to their students. Developed by the Financial Education Council, composed of TISA’s financial services membership, the Toolkit is unbranded and includes a range of resources, such as planning frameworks, videos, and teacher training guides.
Commenting on the Toolkit, Sophie Legrand-Green, Head of Policy and TISA lead of the Financial Education Council, said:
“Receiving financial education in school empowers young people to make informed decisions about their money as they grow. By learning about key financial concepts, young people can reduce the risk of facing financial difficulties, gain confidence in managing their finances, and improve their overall financial wellbeing.
Both teachers and students recognise the important role of financial education in schools. However, with teachers facing high workloads and a huge volume of finance education resources, finding suitable material can be a challenge. This new toolkit is designed to help teachers easily find high-quality, free resources that support them in providing effective financial education for their students.”
